At the recent Unite conference in San Francisco, Shopify gave us insights into what new and exciting updates we can expect in 2017. Here are some of our favourites:
Shopify Pay brings a whole new level of ease to mobile checkouts.
Now, with Shopify Pay, your customers can check out in seconds by entering a 6-digit verification code sent directly to their phone.
Shopify Pay allows customers to save payment details to use for next time, making any future orders a doddle. The best bit about this is once the customer’s details are stored via Shopify Pay the customer can access this data on any participating Shopify store.
How does Shopify Pay benefit you?
- Increases checkout completion times by 40% faster
- A conversion rate that’s up to 18% higher for returning customers
- Secure and encrypted customer data stored on Shopify’s PCI compliant servers

More channel integration
As we’ve mentioned before Shopify allows you to take advantage of multiple sales channels to make the most of your store. At Unite they announced that they are expanding this list and creating new sales channels that everyone can take advantage of. These include some big names such as Wish, Kik and Buzzfeed, meaning that your potential reach can be almost limitless.
Last but not least, Shopify revealed huge improvements over the built in discounts system. They hinted at the ability to be able to do the following:
- Combine multiple collections / products within a discount
- The ability to target specific customer groups
- Advanced reporting
With all these updates coming in 2017, we can’t wait to get our hands on some of these new features to create e-commerce sites for your customers that are both beautiful and easy to use.
